Making Conscious Choices
Choices are a rarity at the moment and because of this I have made choices with the intent of making changes to enhance my environment and my living space. Selling a home is difficult enough and we seldom see our home through the eyes of those looking for a new home. With this in mind I took a concious look at my home and what I could do to make the changes to improve things that I had taken for granted but could really do with a make-over.
It really is quite amazing what you see around you when you take a concious look. All the little things that I was suddenly aware of where small refurbishments would make a big difference. Things I did not see before were suddenly staring me in the face.
I have become extremely able in many aspects of DIY. I have plastered, grouted, sanded, painted (outside of the house, terrace walls, inside walls and ceilings, gates etc.), taken out doors, changed locks, rehinged gates (large and small) and loved every minute of it - what a sense of satisfaction when you look at a job well done! I sometimes find it difficult to believe that I have done these things but it has most definitely made a difference to how my home looks and feels right now.
I have not lost track of my main goal and have also been planting seeds of as yet untried vegetables and putting up window boxes. Beetroots, peanuts, turmeric and chamomile all doing well. Harvested my red potatoes planted late last year in one of my large pots which is now ready for this year’s sweet potato slips once they are ready.
My home also now has a name and not just a number which was a brilliant idea from one of my daughters.
My home is now called ‘Casa Ardoran’.
Below are some photos of my window boxes:
