Animal Rescue
When living in Mallorca I, and my now ex-husband, rescued cats, dogs and even a chick and a rabbit from the streets near our home. In fact we even started our own animal rescue association after working closely with one of the rescues on the island. Unfortunately due to personal circumstances this was closed down in 2016. I am now living in Galicia and have just two cats left, both, as kittens, rescued from a finca in the north of Mallorca. Below are images of those we rescued, some of which are still with me or my ex-husband, and others have either been adopted or have passed over the rainbow bridge.
Below are the last two remaining cats from all of those that I rescued in Mallorca. Until I am more established here in Galicia and things are a little more in order regarding house and grounds I am doing my best not to rescue any more cats at the moment. My dream is eventually to be able to offer homes to senior cats caught up in the system and living in refuges with little chance of adoption, however, at the moment that is just a dream that may, who knows, in the not too distant future, become a reality.
Sima, my special needs sweetie. Due to a serious ear infection he has neurological problems and finds balance difficult. However he is in no pain and loves playing with Micha.
Micha, along with Sima, is one of the 23 cts and kittens rescued from a finca in Pollensa.
The dogs below, along with three others of which I have no photos, went with my ex and as far as I know are still with him.
Benji a beautiful Andalucian podenco with the sweetest of temperaments.

Lady who was found wandering in the local park in fear of everyone and totally emaciated. Lovely little girl.
Max a lovely boy who unfortunately wanted to be top dog so not an easy one for adoption.

Jasper given up at five years old by his hunter owner to be put down. Thankfully the vet involved contacted us.
This Gallery shows the animals we were able to adopt to families on the island. They have either names we gave them or names they came to us with. Once adopted I am quite sure many had name changes.

My beautiful Smokey passed away at fourteen years old, shortly after my arrival in Galicia. Miss him so much.
My sweet little Misty passed away quietly in her sleep - totally unexpected - miss her cuddles.
Sky, my very first cat rescue in Mallorca as a tiny kitten, passed away in her eighteenth year (2023). She was one of my quirkiest little sweeties with such a loud and distinctive meow. I miss her every day.
Kitty passed over the rainbow bridge yesterday evening (18.12.21). Sudden, unexpected and heart-breaking. She was found, as a tiny kitten, in the rubbish bin seeking food unable to see out of her badly infected eyes in 2010.
My beautiful little boy Blue passed away on the 23rd September 2022 at just two years old. Still cannot believe he is gone, such a little sweetheart, miss him so much.
My beautiful Bella, (This photo was taken just a few days before she made her journey over the Rainbow Bridge.) rescued by me when she was three years old, passed away aged 17 on the 1st May 2022. I miss her so much, forever in my heart.
My beautiful little Fudge, brought over with us from the UK. Such a sweetheart, his passing I feel sure inspired my rescue beginnings.
Harvey, just coming up to his tenth year. Suffered from Atropica and had a heart murmur. On the 18.7.21 just after we finished playing with the hose on the terrace, with him chasing the water and barking at it. He collapsed and was gone within five minutes from what appears to have been a massive heart attack. I miss him so much. Totally devastated.
Vinny, my lovely cuddly boy, who grew into a big bundle of love at 8kg passed away suddenly having been bitten by something that had accessed the Catio. I will miss him greatly.
Gypsy who came to me as a tiny bundle of fur following one of my other rescues (Marmie). He had quite a few health problems over the years but overcame them all and passed away early this year (2024) in his nineteenth year. Another beautiful soul who will be sorely missed.
My beautiful, shy, little girl Jet passed away in August of 2022. She was one of the kittens that Captain Jack brought with him. She did not care for human contact and it took a long, long time until I was able to pick her up or stroke her. I miss this little sweetheart, such a gentle soul.
Captain Jack passed away in my arms - no idea of his age but definitely around thirteen or fourteen. He had been run over on the streets, losing an eye and injuring his tail, someone had obviously taken care of his injuries but he was back on the streets again. He came to us with three little kittens he had been protecting.
Perico, him and Karly came to me when their elderly owner died. They had been together for years. Perico passed away in my arms at fourteen leaving a heartbroken Karly.
Marmie left us quite suddenly on 21.1. 2021. Even though he was at least fourteen there were no outward signs of illness before he passed away.
Karly I feel passed away from a broken heart. He and Perico had been inseparable even with quite an age difference. Three months after Perico passed away Karly followed him with no outward signs of illness or pain.
Tigger was adopted by a young couple who eventually left the island for the UK. They let me know that he had been quite poorly and was now over the Rainbow Bridge
Willow, a real little cutie, passed away in his second year from a kidney problem. He passed in the vets arms as she was treating him.
Bailey - my gorgeous boy, went over the rainbow bridge on the 18.8. 2018 - age unknown. I was with him when he passed of a suspected brain tumor. Totally devastated, will miss him so very much.
Suki - ran away after Hobo passed away and we were no longer able to find her so I have added her to this slideshow as I feel if she had been able to come home she would have done.
Hobo - beautiful little boy, went over the rainbow bridge at only one year old having been run over.
Sweet little Klari - passed over the rainbow bridge 16.6.2020 - age unknown - passed away in my arms - he found his way to me from the streets in 2009.
Prince - my first dog rescue. This beautiful boy passed over the rainbow bridge in December 2014 - he was just nine years old -cancerous tumors were his downfall. Sadly missed, he was such a sweet and gentle boy.
Storm, my little sweetheart, passed away aged fourteen in my arms in 2019. Rescued as a kitten from a bag in a rubbish bin he had been with me all his life.
