Inspirations

I created several large paintings, one metre high by half a metre wide. Having never painted to this scale before it was quite intimidating initially and of course a new media was necessary. Water colours on such a large scale and on canvas would not do and oil takes too long to dry so this was my introduction to acrylic paint. At first I tried to copy one of my watercolour paintings and bring it to life on a grand scale and although it was similar to the watercolour version it was definitely no copy. From then on I created new and exciting images.

I have to say I loved it. I loved the intensity of the colours and the fact that I did not have to wait an age for it to dry. I also surprised myself as I really enjoyed painting to this scale. I realise, as with most of my paintings, they are a little weird and wonderful, not to everyone’s taste but I have finally decided it does not matter as for the many people who don’t like or appreciate them there will be many who do. So now these too are out there for you all to enjoy or not!
