Sunrise in Galicia

Well I was hoping to try and keep a regular blog going regarding what I am doing on a daily or weekly basis, sadly I often get so involved in doing that I totally forget to write a blog, in fact I usually forget the before pictures of whatever I am doing, which is very frustrating. So I will try and give you an over view of my week just gone.

However, before I do, let me explain what the title is all about. I have a huge picture window next to my bed and the view when I awake has been very similar to the image shown here this week. The days have been wonderful and sunny but as the temperatures drop overnight the mornings bring, more often than not, a very misty view of the fields and trees. I love it as the sun gradually rises and the view changes as the day progresses. In fact this has helped me decide which of the many jobs I need to do around the farm, and when. When it is too hot I have to leave the outside jobs and concentrate on indoor ones. I really have plenty of each, inside and outside jobs, on my ‘to do’ list.

There are a couple of jobs I have had to put on hold for the moment, completing the cat run outside and repairing the outside tap which has developed a leak. These two jobs in particular have been moved down the list for the moment. So I started to tackle what I consider to be quite a mammoth task, plastering around the barn between the top of the brick wall and the new roof, starting in the catio. I managed to get half way round the catio walls but got to a point where my arms were aching so much I could hardly lift the plaster up to where it needed to go. So hopefully round two on that will get finished this week and then I will be able to paint the walls in the catio. The rest of the barn, which is enormous, will have to wait until I have sorted out the plastering to make it ready for painting. For me the important thing is to get the catio painted with thermal paint to make sure that my fur-babies do not get too hot during the summer or too cold during the winter. It is quite amazing really how comfortable the temperature in their little area is compared to the outside temperatures at the moment so I am very relieved as it is quite a big task to complete.

Once I have finished the catio I will be filling all the holes in the brick walls of the barn, and believe me there are many, with foam, even before I start the plastering at the top. When these things are finished I can then paint the walls and the floor, not really sure when that will all happen as there are so many other jobs on my list. This is what comes of buying an older property. Having said that I would not change it for the world. It may not yet be all that I want it to be but slowly and surely that is exactly what it will become and in the meantime I love every moment living here. It is so green, so peaceful, so beautiful, and I am so grateful to be living in this beautiful farm that I now call home.

I have found many jobs still to do and will do my best to keep updating what I am doing from now on. Having moved here al most two years ago many things have taken over blog writing but hopefully, even though life is still busy, there is more time now to put things down for you and to remind me of all that I do on a daily basis.
